Is the iPad this year’s Tickle Me Elmo?

It’s already been said that the iPad will be this year’s “Tickle Me, Elmo.” With that idea firmly embedded (kicking and screaming) in your brain, if you’re planning on putting Apple tablets under the tree this Christmas, you should probably order now.
Currently, all models of the iPad are listed on the Apple Store for seven-to-10 day delivery and it’s not even August (back-to-school) yet. Further, Reuters is reporting comments by LG Display’s CEO and the tidings he brings herald stress for moms and dads worldwide as the holiday shopping season inexorably grinds into view — the iPad WILL be in even shorter short supply soon.
“Demand (from Apple) keeps growing and we can’t meet it all. Apple may have to delay launches of the iPad for some countries due to tight component supplies and strong demand,” said LG Display CEO Kwon Young-soo. “We are considering increasing production lines for iPad products but overall supply is likely to remain tight until early next year.”
